About Probabilistic Publishing

Probabilistic Publishing provides decision analysis books and resources for managers, decision analysis practitioners, trainers, and technical professionals. We keep key foundational works available and in print so that both the experienced person and the beginner have access to a sound basis for learning.

In addition to select new titles, we are always interested in adding publications which our clients wish were available but, for whatever reason, are no longer in print.

Our products are priced competitively so that they are affordable for students and professionals. We offer quantity discounts for trainers and professional discounts for members of most professional organizations. We normally do not provide "desk copies" for academic use, but sometimes we have returns from bookstores which we can send you AND we do provide an academic discount.

Due to the excessive amount of time that we have had to chase bookstores to get paid, effective Oct 4, 2008 all bookstores who do not already have a history of prompt payment with us must prepay orders.

Please contact us for volume discount information.

Return Policy

All returns are subject to a 10% re-stocking fee. Return authorization must be obtained prior to all returns (phone, e-mail, or fax; refer to your original order if possible). If the returned books are damaged, a 50% re-stocking fee will be applied for each damaged book.

Academic Policies (Review Copies)

Desk copies / review copies are available at a discount – contact us for the academic discount schedule or request the academic discount in the "comment" field when you order from our www site.

We do not send out complimentary copies unless we have returns from a book store. However, if you use the text in your course, we will apply full credit for your review copy. Also, sometimes we have somewhat damaged returns (see above); if we have a returned book, we will provide a desk copy academic review.

Concerning David Skinner’s book, "Introduction to Decision Analysis, 2nd Edition," we do not recommend this book for undergraduate use. Many colleges and universities have successfully used this book as the text for graduate level courses. However, note that this book was written for the business / industrial decision analysis practitioner and works best with students closely tied to business and industry.

Concerning Robert Winkler’s book, "Introduction to Bayesian Decision and Inference, 2nd Edition," we do not recommend this book for undergraduate use. However, it is ideally suited for graduate use (as well as the business / industrial decision analysis practitioner).
